Just not too happy right at the moment. One day I inadvertently grabbed a check from my home equity line of credit rather than my regular checking account. It took me some time to realize why I had a balance on my home equity loan statement in the section for "line of credit." I immediately rushed to remedy the situation by writing a check for the full amount in order to avoid using the account with the higher interest rate. However, tiny balances continued to dribble in. Last evening, I received a phone call about an overdue account with WaMu. My account is automatically deducted, so, again, I was confused. When the collector realized he was calling about a .42 cent debt he was almost embarassed. However, he did not have the authority to waive the $15 late charge. Three calls later, and I still could not get the $15 late charge waived for the .42 cent debt. I sent an online payment for the amount of .42 cents, but the customer service rep said that wouldn't cover the charge as more interest would accrue. Probably another penny. And on and on. I would never catch up. Couldn't someone just waive the .42 cents or at least the penny? How much time and energy and money is being wasted on this foolish bookkeeping? Fortunately, by the last phone call, I was assured that this would not go on my credit record since it was under one dollar. Whew! Thanks WaMu. I sent the $15 late payment fee with an added dollar. I asked the rep if that would cover it. He said he didn't know. They will have more pennies than they know what to do with. . |
